I remember not so long ago that I was known as the “Odin guy”. For those who have followed along this little journey of mine, you will certainly attest to that. After breaking free from the corporate world, stamping my 9 to 5 time card and slowly fading into the abyss of monotonous life, I tripped over the world of freelance blogging like the gardening hose draped over the walkway. I had a new passion and a new purpose to nurture and refine every single day. I awoke every morning at the same time yet without the judgemental orders of an alarm clock. I then made my way to the local cafe to put my ideas on paper and start building my future. One free of managers and performance reviews. I was building my own empire. Big or small, it was going to be MY empire. In a strange way, coffee became such a huge part of my life that almost symbolized my new found freedom. I’ll have coffee in bed, I’ll have coffee in the cafe down the road or wait, maybe I’ll pack up and have a cup on the west side of town. Because I can.
In another strange way, my maturation as a blogger went hand in hand with my maturation as a coffee lover. I’ve slowly pulled away from the coffee shop scene as of late and gotten back to my roots in a way. Home. Home is such an important part of my life and I’m always doing everything I can to make it more “me”. Make it truly a haven and a sanctuary where Junior and I can lean back, be cool and make cool sh*t. Well I make the cool sh*t, Junz sleeps and periodically watches my creative release. Working and drinking (coffee) from home is now my thing. I’m good at it too. Just about every morning of mine is a carbon copy of the day previous as if my life is a modern day spin-off of the film Groundhog Day. Junior generally wakes me up by sniffing around my pillow, I pat his head and tell him to chill, I get out of bed and make a cup of coffee and then return for a couple hours of work on my MacBook. I started with coffee runs to the local spot, graduated to coffee makers and then french presses and now I’ve landed into a routine of the Tassimo machine after falling in love with McDonald’s McCafe coffee like so many of you have. The emergence of McCafe is no longer a secret. Like Trekkies or Free Masons, there’s many of us out there! While I still make the trip to McDonald’s locations on the regular (especially for the apple pies), I get my real fix inside those gorgeous little pods I buy in bulk every Sunday. My old coffee bean jar is now filled with the Premium Roast blend. Made from 100% fine Arabica beans sourced from Indonesia and Central & South America; simply put, it’s just great coffee.
I’ll be honest, I have had an instant coffee pod machine before and wasn’t thrilled. Despite not being a coffee snob, nobody likes a watery cup of coffee when they wake up in the morning. My new Tassimo is a different story, I adore it. Along with my new mirrorless camera & that new little brown dog Joey in my life, my Tassimo is one of my new babies. An essential. I certainly have a lot of time each and every day but being able to make my coffee in a flash and put my energy into my work is one of those little things in life that matter.
Happy Tuesday everybody. Have a lovely morning cup and an amazing day.
I almost forgot…I have a Tassimo machine with some McCafe coffee to send to one of you so you can enjoy it as much as I do. All you gotta do is post a photo of you having coffee ANYWHERE and include “@mr.danielocoan Now send me my Tassimo + @McCafeCanada“. Be sure to tag me in the photo as well so i don’t miss any.
I’ll pick my fave pick next Monday and have it sent directly to you!
